My love of Jane Austen has risen to new heights with this collection of modernised teenage adaptations of the beloved novels by author Rosie Rushton. From Whatever Love Is (Mansfield Park) to firm favourites Summer of Secrets (Northanger Abbey) and Love, Lies and Lizzie (Pride and Prejudice), Rushton has definitely set the bar on how to write a romantic comedy with depth, passion and hormonal drama! A Taste of Dark...

Here is a little taste of WITCH DARK, my work in progress...   Not even the full moon or the scattered stars could pierce the blackness of the dense woodland and the heavy mists that settled in around it. The darkness was overwhelming. Even the animal s, accustomed to nature’s changing moods, seemed to fear the very source of these shadows. And it was quiet; it was all too quiet...  Twigs snapped somewhere off into the distance, the echoes growing louder and louder with each passing second. Animals, already unnerved, cowered, hiding in their dens. A young man, hooded and cloaked, emerged from the undergrowth and stopped to look at his surroundings. He was displeased. Cuddles

In loving memory of one of the cutest cats... Warm and rested by the fire, Dark with aubern, her thick fur glowed. Her presense calm in quiet slumber Watching embers fade. Those she loved around her always, Laughing at her chatter. Small but large were her demands, Cute and inane banter. In the dark her green eyes glistened, Pierced into the soul. She never like the policeman coming, Hissing from the bed. Her footbaall skills unparallelled, Despite her timid nature She always gave it all she had, The ball did not escape her. Sleeping curled on daddy's lap, Resting with eyes closed No one would disturb her there, Just watched her dream and doze.
