The Sapphire

Hi guys!

Another epilepsy post...

While I have mentioned before that St Valentine is the patron saint of epilepsy, did you know that in medieval times the Sapphire was used to ward off seizures?

Jet was used in the Roman era as well, this as a tool of detection; suspected epileptics (believed to be possessed by demons) were to made to sniff the gem. If nothing happened, they would be declared demon free!

Happy Friday!
